Oh yes. People still eat them. The battered Mars Bar started as a novelty item brought from our frying friends in Scotland, but around 30 years on, the Battered Mars Bar is still going strong… Just don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

Hi, I’m Andrew Marshall. It’s my place you’re reading about, and I’d like to tell you exactly why I care so much about your food.
Starting as a 14 year boy peeling spuds and washing up, I didn’t expect to find a love for all things edible when fried.
I started with a precious few evenings each week hidden out the back of a chippy (the often forgotten) and progressed to front of house serving customers and registering the tills. I’d like to say this is where the passion started, but actually it was the moment I started to learn how to fry.
Just before I turned 18, after semi-completing A-Levels, I became a fryer and it was then that my journey really started. I perfected the technique (yes, there is one) to frying over the next 15 years whilst based in my home town of Weston-super-Mare.
In 2011, I was appointed Manager of a new restaurant on Weston Sea Front. Tutu was a million pound plus venture, and a landmark in the town. I took all I learnt from managing the staff and later put this into the purchase of my very first business, Marshalls Fish and Chips in Cullompton was established in 2017 with three core goals in my mind:
- Make a living
- Be a local business building a community spirit
- Most importantly, bring the Finest Produce, without compromise to my first Fish and Chip shop.
A few years have passed quickly since first opening in 2017, and I am delighted that Marshall’s has grown within the community, has employed some fantastic young staff who are now as much of the team as I am, and with the impact of Covid-19, added a delivery service to local residents in Cullompton.

We’ve been delivering fish and chips in Cullompton since early 2020. The ability to deliver has helped our chippy find new customers, for just £1.50 we will deliver to Bradninch, Willand, and throughout Cullompton.

BATTERED MARS BARS TO MINCE PIES...WE'VE DONE IT!
We’ve been featured by ITV, Devon Live, and Lad Bible for the incredible Chipmas Dinner.
This tastastic combination of battered bliss, including Chicken Leg, Sprouts, Gravy Bomb, Stuffing, Pigs in Blankets, and the famous Battered Mince Pies all put Marshall’s Fish Bar on the map! It’s enough to get the curious eaters to our door in December. However, it’s not just the Chipmas Dinner we’re famous for.

We’ve got battered Mars Bars, Oreo Cookies, Creme Eggs, and even a few mystery treats for our Cullompton customers.
